Application to take Comprehensive Examination

Please keep the following items in mind when submitting this form.

1. You must complete this form in order to sit for a comprehensive examination. Notice must be given at least 30 days prior to the scheduled examination. 2. Please provide your current e-mail address, the one that you check often. This is the address that all communication will be disseminated to. If your e-mail address changes, you should so advise the Graduate Coordinator immediately. It is your responsibility to be informed about all matters concerning the comprehensive examination. 3. You must take the two core sections, Criminological Theory and Research Methods/Statistics. You then select two out of three elective sections. If you have taken the exam once, and failed any sections, you get one final chance to pass the section(s) you failed. Please check only the sections you plan to take for this exam. 4. If you live far away from campus, and wish to have your exam proctored where you live, you may request permission to do so. Indicate this in the form and provide detailed contact information for your proposed proctor. You must locate a suitable proctor who will be approved by the Graduate Coordinator. This will only be approved if you reside too far away to realistically come in the night before the exam or the day of the exam. If you have questions about this, please contact the Graduate Coordinator. 5. Remember, if you fail any section of the exam twice, you will no longer be eligible to take the exam. Your only choice then would be to attempt to do a thesis before the “eight year” limit on completing your degree is reached. The moral of this story is study hard and be very well prepared.
