Central Missouri's Automotive Technology Management Program has been awarded part of a Five Million Dollar Federal grant awarded through the Department of Energy involving Advanced Electric Drive Vehicles (AEVs). The 3 year long grant was awarded to a partnership of institutions including MO University of Science & Technology at Rolla, University of Central Missouri, Linn State Technical College, and the Saint Louis Science Center. UCM’s portion of the grant is over $650,000. Faculty in the Automotive Technology Management program will be developing an undergraduate certificate program for AEVs as well as developing education materials for technicians and trainers who will be involved with Electric Vehicles. The Missouri Safety Center at UCM will be will be working on the development and delivery of training for end users of the vehicles to include: fleet purchasers of the vehicles; drivers; law enforcement and EMS; as well as the public.
