Internship Requirements
Throughout the internship experience the intern must meet these requirements:
ALL ASSIGNMENTS, EXCEPT THE EMPLOYER EVALUATION FORM, MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH THE BLACKBOARD COURSE INTERFACE OR EMAILED TO techinterns@ucmo.edu. COMPLETE COURSE INFORMATION, INCLUDING REQUIREMENTS AND DUE DATES, ARE AVAILBABLE THROUGH BLACKBOARD.
- Submit a map to your place of work. Work the number of hours required by the employer, and the number of hours to earn the desired amount of college credit (80 hours work time minimum per each hour of academic credit).
- Meet and exceed job performance requirements. The intern is required to meet and exceed job performance expectations just as any other employee. These expectations would include punctuality, responsibility, reliability, productivity, team participation, and specialized knowledge.
- Alert your supervisor that the Internship Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator may be in contact for a visitation appointment.
- Submit a professional development plan. This 2-3 page report requires the intern to examine and express their immediate employment goals and long term career goals, and then formulate a plan which summarizes how the intern will achieve these goals, and details how the internship experience will help the student with their career aspirations. Sample is available through Blackboard.
- Submit the required number of periodic written reports. These reports summarize the internship process to date and help maintain the atmosphere of learning on the part of the intern so the position will not be viewed as simply a routine, temporary job. Periodic reports also keep the Internship Office informed of the intern's activities and any change of status. Sample is available through Blackboard.
- Provide your company supervisor an evaluation form for evaluating your performance on the job. The form is available on-line on Blackboard.
- Submit a summary report near the end of the internship period. This report, to be shared with the intern's work supervisor, will summarize all activities of the internship. Sample is available through Blackboard.
- Meet due dates for all assignments. Due dates for all assignments are listed in assignment requirements found on Blackboard, web-based course interface.
