Theatre students at UCM work in one of the most beautiful and modern theatre facilities in the Midwest, the James L. Highlander Theatre. The 442-seat continental, wedge-shaped auditorium with excellent acoustics and sight lines faces a large, fully rigged stage, complete with the latest in sound equipment and a 174-dimmer per circuit, computerized lighting system. A motorized orchestra apron lift allows for flexible staging. Well-equipped costume and scene shops and spacious dressing and makeup rooms adjoin the stage area. In addition, there are classrooms, rehearsal and storage areas within the facility.
