Family's Holiday Gifts Fund Music Scholarship
The Blackman family has a solution to holiday commercialism. Instead of buying expensive presents for each other, they select a charity to help. Last year, they used their gift money to start a scholarship at the university. They chose UCM because it is the alma mater of their parents, Robert and Nancy Blackman.

Nothing Average about Henry's Wish to Help Students through Scholarship
Although her life was tragically cut short in a June 2003 motor vehicle accident, Catherine "Katy" Henry once dreamed of being able to help other students to achieve their educational goals. Today, her wish has been realized through the presentation of the first Katy Henry "Average" Student Scholarship at the University of Central Missouri.

Family's Sweater Gift Reveals Connections
As Ruth Oetting and her children began sorting through family mementos in the attic of Oetting's Raytown, MO, home, they came across the letter sweater that her husband, Albert Dietrich Oetting, wore as a Central Missouri State Teachers College athlete.  After discussion, Mrs. Oetting and her daughter, Betty Oetting Morris '53 '74, and her son, Vaughn Oetting '62, made the trip to Warrensburg to present the sweater to UCM's Arthur F. McClure II Archives and University Museum.
