Campus Exterior Art
More than 11 sculptures grace and enhance the exterior spaces of the UCM campus. Some are the work of alumni, including David Laughlin ’50 and Phil Uyeda, ’86, ’88. Pictured above is a sculpture by Kathleen Caricof-Burnes that sits in front of the Administration Building. Installed in 1993, “Petra” comes from Latin/Greek meaning “rock” or “stone.” This female figure has her head bowed forever suggesting extreme emotion. Rebecca Hite, ' 77 created nine stained glass panels for College High Memorial sculpted by Richard Monson, professor emerites of art.
