January 27, 2014 - Veterans/Attendance All Hands Be There - University President Charles Ambrose and Brigadier General (Ret.) Arnold Gordon-Bray request the attendance of all UCM veterans and dependents attending or working at UCM to attend this special event. "All Hands" are requested to provide an update and solicit feedback from a large portion of MVSC students at one time to inform and validate UCM veteran support and commitment. January 16, 2014 - Active Duty Military, Veterans Encouraged to Attend Free Return With Purpose Workshops at UCM - Individuals who want to take advantage of a free workshop designed to help military personnel who are making the transition from active duty service to civilian life, are encouraged to register for one of the independent sessions Saturday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, March 1. October 22, 2013 - Ceremony Honoring Women Who Served, Blood Drive Highlight Veterans Day - The University of Central Missouri is the setting for two special activities Monday, November 11 in honor of individuals who have fought for their country. Women who served in the United States military will be honored during a joint ceremony, "Honoring Our Women Veterans,: planned for 11 am in the Multipurpose Building. Also planned the same day is the second annual Military Appreciation Blood Drive, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Elliott Student Union, Room 238 and 240. For more information, please read the news release.

September 12, 2013 - Military personnel who are making the transition from service to civilian life are encouraged to take advantage of free two-day workshops planned for October 18-19 and November 15-16 by the University of Central Missouri's Office of Military and Veteran Services and the non-profit organization Return With Purpose. Facilitator Greg Ganschaw, chief executive officer and founder of Return With Purpose is a U.S. Air Force veteran who has worked with Fortune 500 Companies to help employees and corporations to maximize thier skills, abilities and productivity. September 6, 2013 - Missourians who lost their lives during military service since September 2011 will be honored in a ceremony at 3:30 pm, Monday, September 9, introducing the University of Central Missouri community an opportunity to view the "Remembering Our Fallen" traveling display. The exhibit will be available through Sept. 15 at the atrium of the UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center. For more information, please read the news release.
August 27, 2013 - Women who have served in the military will be honored during a joint Veterans Day ceremony planned at the University of Central Missouri. The signup deadline for the program "Honoring our Lady Veterans" is Saturday, October 12, with the actual program set for 11 a.m. Monday, November 11 at the UCM Multipurpose Building. August 22, 2013 - The University of Central Missouri will join in the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of those individuals who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy. The campus observance begins at noon Wednesday, September 11 at the quadrangle, and everyone who is interested is welcome. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in Hendricks Hall. After a welcome by University President Charles Ambrose, keynote remarks will be presented by Brig. General Thomas A. Bussiere, commander of the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base. For more information, please read the news release.
June 12, 2013 - The University of Central Missouri's Office of Military and Veteran Services is partnering with the non-profit organization Return With Purpose to provide a free workshop for up to 30 individuals who are preparing to make the transition from military service to civilian life. The two-day workshop Aug. 23-24 at UCM is geared toward active duty military personnel preparing to make the transition, veterans, guardsmen, reservists and military spouses. June 10, 2013 - Due to scheduling conflicts, the Celebrity Waiter Dinner, an event designed to raise funds for special projects in support of airmen and their families, has been cancelled by the Whiteman Air Force Base Community Council. No plans are being made at this time to reschedule the event, which was planned for June 22 on the University of Central Missouri campus. The attached news release has more information.
March 5, 2013 - Businesses and organizations offering services to active duty service members and veterans are invited to participate in the second annual Military and Veterans Resource Event Friday, April 5 at the University of Central Missouri. January 15, 2013 - Capt. Chris Plekenpol, an author, motiviational speaker and former U.S. Army tank commander who has tackled personal issues related to combat stress, will speak at the University of Central Missouri Tuesday, Jan. 15. November 9, 2012 - The UCM Office of Military and Veteran Services, the Student Veterans Organization, ROTC Fighting Mules, and Volunteer Services at UCM are working with the American Red Cross to sponsor a Military Appreciation Blood Drive on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 9 am to 3 pm. Military- and Veteran-related businesses and service organizations are being sought to sponsor vendor tables. Vendor Registration Forms are due Wednesday, October 31. April 12, 2012 - News Release - SSG Kyle Hausmann-Stokes (US Army Ret.) served five years in the Army's Airborne Infantry and as a Squad Leader/Convoy Commander during a yearlong combat tour in Iraq. For his meritorious service and actions under fire, SSG Hausmann-Stokes was awarded the Bronze Star. At 11 a.m. April 12 in Elliott Union 237A&B, Kyle will present on From Combat to College: Transitioning with PTSD. The Kansas City Vet Center's Mobile Vet Unit will be parked on Union Street between the Elliott Union and W.C. Morris Science Building to register veterans for VA services from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. KC Vet Center staff will be on site to answer questions regarding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and services its center offers to eligible veterans.
March 31, 2012 - News Release - In recognition of the oustanding partnership with Whiteman Air Force Base, UCM is establishing the UCM Command Pass for use at campus sporting events. Beginning in fall 2012, the Command Pass will make it possible for all active duty military service members, Guard, Reservists and their dependents to gain free access to all Mules and Jennies home sporting events with a military ID. March 13, 2012 - News Release - More than 40 vendors, door prizes, resource handouts and informational speakers await those attending the first Military and Veterans Resource Event planned for 8 a.m - 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 in the Elliott Union Ballroom at the University of Central Missouri. Admission to this event is free. All active duty, guard, reservists, retired service men and women, and military dependents are welcome to attend. February 4, 2012 - To kick-off African American History Month 2012, please join the Military Affairs Committee for the showing of the feature movie "Red Tails" Heart of American Tuskegee Airmen Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at Carmike Cinemas, 386 Hawthorne Blvd., Warrensburg, Mo. A reception will be held at 2 p.m. for the UCM campus faculty, staff, students, members of the Military Affairs Committee and Whiteman Air Force Base personnel to meet and greet the original members of the Tuskegee Airmen. At 3 p.m., the movie "Red Tails" will be shown, with a second showing at 10 p.m. Tickets will be provided for active military personnel. Civilian tickets can be purchased at the door. June 30, 2011 - The military not only values higher education, but now there's a financial incentive for service men and women to continue their education at the University of Central Missouri. This was the message about 140 individuals, mostly junior airmen, received this week during a formal announcement of the University of Central Missouri's new Military Tuition Package.
