Abuse Prevention-
Partnering for Positive Change
The mission of UCM Office of Violence and Substance Abuse Prevention (VSAP) is to work closely with campus and community partners to create, implement, and evaluate best practice initiatives to address gender violence and high risk alcohol use, and to increase the capacity of our local community to address those issues.
There is no single cause that accounts for alcohol abuse or gender violence such as sexual assault and partner violence; similarly, no single strategy will eradicate these issues. Complex problems require comprehensive solutions. The VSAP office utilizes the Spectrum of Prevention as a framework for creating a comprehensive strategy for addressing these complex societal issues. These levels are complementary and when used together produce a synergy that results in greater effectiveness than would be possible by implementing any single activity. Want to know more?
