Protect Your Holiday Technology Gifts!
Posted: 12/6/2013 - 1. Write down or take a picture of the serial number of the device. You’ll need that if it gets lost or stolen. 2. Write down the Mac address of the device. This is the internal machine address, sometimes calls WiFi address. You can Google the instructions for finding the Mac address information for your particular device, but most of the time it will be located in an "About this Device" screen. 3. Keep your warranty information in a safe place, and consider purchasing an extended warranty for those devices that you take everywhere with you. 4. Make sure you obtain and run appropriate anti-virus/malware software. 5. If you are giving your old laptop, tablet, or smartphone to your little brother (or anyone else), be sure to completely wipe the device of any existing data. You don’t want to give away access to all of your email, bank accounts, iTunes, etc.
Best Wishes for a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
