About the Journal of Content Area Reading

The Journal of Content Area Reading is an international refereed professional journal that is published by the Content Area Reading Special Interest Group of the International Literacy Association. Articles published deal with literacy research and instruction in the content areas for preschool through high school and for college/university instruction.

From 2002-2010, the Journal of Content Area Reading has been published approximately once per year as a traditional print journal. In addition, beginning with Vol. 7, some issues of the Journal of Content Area Reading are displayed in EBSCO's Education Research Complete online database. Beginning with Vol. 9, 2011-2012, the journal was posted online, for a time, by the International Reading Association (now the ILA). If you wish to submit a manuscript, please consult the Call for Manuscripts page.
