Immunization Policy

The University of Central Missouri Board of Governors, by recommendation of the United States Center for Disease Control and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, requires all students and employees to present documentation showing immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella (commonly called the MMR shots) and the testing of students for tuberculosis. Please bring your Immunization Record form with you to campus for review by a Health Center nurse.

Testing for Tuberculosis (TB)

In January 2010, the UCM Health Center adopted a new Tuberculosis (TB) testing procedure. This test is more accurate and produces faster results than older testing methods. The new TB test, or "T-Spot test" involves a blood draw. The test is done only if needed after a review of your history by a Health Center nurse. If your T-Spot test is positive, you will be required to obtain a chest x-ray which can cost from $125-$400. As of August 2010, we will not accept TB tests or chest x-rays from outside the United States. A block will be placed on your future enrollment until your history has been reviewed by the Health Center nurse, and if needed, the Tuberculosis testing completed.

Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)

The UCM Board of Governors, per recommendation of the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), requires all students and employees to present documentation showing immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella and demonstrate a negative history for active tuberculosis (a TB screening is required for everyone).

Failing to comply with the immunization policy will result in a hold for next semester enrollment or suspension of employment.

If you are living in the University Housing, the State of Missouri requires that all students living in University Housing must receive the meningococcal vaccine after the the student's 16th birthday. Exemptions are allowed for medical/religious reasons. Please fill out exemption form along with immunization form if it applies to you.

Meningococcal Vaccine

Failing to comply with the Meningococcal immunization policy will result moving into University Housing.

If you were born before January 1, 1957 you are not required to provide this information, but everyone born on or after January 1, 1957 must have the shots. If you have not had them or if you have only had one, you must have the needed shots in Warrensburg.

For more information and access to the Immunization Form and the Meningococcal Exemption Form, please visit see the university immunization policy.

Required International Student Health Insurance

International students are required by University policy to have health insurance, and each student is automatically enrolled in the International Student Health Insurance Plan when they enroll in classes at UCM. Please see the International Student Health Insurance Plan for details about the health insurance.

Please note that the UCM International Student Health Insurance pays for the Tuberculosis test and the MMR vaccination.

If you have any questions about the International Student Health Insurance Plan or the immunization policies, please contact the University Health Center at 660-543-4770.
