Business Teacher Education Program

The UCM Business Teacher Education program seeks to prepare outstanding business teachers who are caring professionals, knowledgeable of business disciplines, and skilled with emerging technologies.

Technology Education

Engineering and Technology Teacher Education
Our Engineering and Technology Teacher Education program prepares students for a teaching career at the secondary level.  Students are prepared to teach pre-engineering and career exploration as well as traditional areas of communication, construction, manufacturing, and transportation.  Students successfully completing specific requirements will be nationally certificated to teach Project Lead the Way® and Engineering by Design™ courses.  Project and problem-based learning is emphasized to enhance hands-on, investigative, and design-build approaches to teaching.  Students learn to teach in a laboratory setting using modern technological tools and methods. 

FCSE

Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Education
This program is designed to prepare students to be professional educators of Family and Consumer Sciences. Students will complete a professional education block of courses, as well as content specific courses in human development, family studies, nutrition, food preparation, consumerism, and fashion merchandising. The program offers the opportunity to earn a Birth-12th grade teaching certificate in Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences. 

Graduate Studies


Graduate Studies in Career and Technology Education
This program is designed to strengthen the preparation of administrators and educators in 1) career education (agriculture education, business education, family and consumer sciences education, health sciences education, marketing education, technology education, and trade and industrial education) in middle schools, high schools, career centers, or community colleges; or 2) technical subjects in industry.

Occupational Education

Occupational Education
Our Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education is the only statewide approved B.S. degree designed to make the transition from industry into education. This program is designed to work with prior industry experience and formal education, regardless of whether it is automotive technology, computer networking, or dental hygiene. Teacher education coursework is a key element of this program. Students learn the fundamentals of teaching, including curriculum development, assessment, and classroom management.
