Performing Arts Series receives high grant rating

Jeff Imboden, Office of the Performing Arts at the University of Central Missouri (UCM), recently attended the Missouri Arts Council Multidiscipline Panel meeting, where UCM's Performing Arts Series received one of its highest grant scores ever. The Missouri Arts Council, a state agency and division of the Department of Economic Development, awards grants to non-profit organizations to stimulate the growth, development and appreciation of the arts in Missouri. The Multidiscipline Grant provides support to larger and ongoing arts projects in disciplines including dance, electronic media arts, festivals, literature, multidiscipline, music (instrumental and vocal/presenter), theater and visual arts.

"I'm really pleased with the high score we received, and very proud of the fact that we have received a grant every year for the past 10 years, even through fiscally-challenging times," Imboden stated. "It really does show the enduring strength and quality of our program."

The amount of the grant is determined by the overall rating score and will be announced in July. Past grant amounts have ranged from $7,500 to $14,000.

The Performing Arts Series (PAS) at UCM has been the premier cultural venue in the region for over 28 years, providing a wide variety of fine and performing arts programs to UCM students, faculty and staff, K-12 students and the regional community. At least 75% of each season's schedule includes artist residencies, K-12 school matinees and student masterclasses and workshops.
