Dr. Donald Martin spent much of his career as a university educator helping his students to grasp difficult accounting concepts. He has retired professor emeritus of accounting after 16 years of service to Central.
A former Faculty Senate president at Central, Dr. Martin came to the university in 1986 as an associate professor of accounting, after teaching Managerial Accounting earlier in his professional career at the University of Kansas. His course load, over the years, covered subjects such as Survey of Accounting, Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Production Operations management, Financial Accounting Information and Managerial Accounting Information.
An alumnus of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Dr. Martin began his college career pursuing bachelor’s degrees in industrial engineering and industrial management. He went on th earn a master’s degree in industrial engineering from MU, but by the time he pursued doctoral study, his focus turned to accounting.
In addition to his education credentials, Dr. Martin also has a number of professional certifications and affiliations. These include Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified School Business Official, and Certified Professional Engineer designations. He also served for two years as a trustee on the MOSER’s Missouri State Employees Retirement Inc. Board of Trustees.
