UCM Announces Homecoming 2014, "Where All the Pieces Fit"

WARRENSBURG, MO (Oct. 7, 2014) – The University of Central Missouri invites the community to join in the celebration of  “Where All the Pieces Fit” during the 2014 Homecoming celebration Oct. 17-18 as friends and alumni join UCM students and staff in a variety of activities.

The Homecoming Pep Rally is planned for 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the Multipurpose Building. Student organizations will have an opportunity to show their UCM pride during a variety of competitions, and the four finalists for Homecoming royalty will be announced.

Festivities planned for Saturday, Oct. 18, kick off with the free all-alumni breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Smiser Alumni Center, followed by the annual Homecoming parade at 9 a.m. The parade route, unchanged from previous years, will start at the intersection of Holden and Clark streets, proceeding north on Holden Street through campus and downtown Warrensburg. The parade route turns east onto Gay Street to College Avenue. At College Avenue, the route heads south until it reaches South Street. Band and parade judges will be positioned on the west side of Holden Street on the lawn of the Johnson County Courthouse.

Following the Homecoming Parade, the UCM Office of Alumni Relations and the UCM Alumni Association will host an all-alumni tailgate at 11 a.m. at the Achauer House, 314 S. Holden St. Cost is $8 per person for food, refreshments and live music by the local band Random Access.

UCM joins the City of Warrensburg, Warrensburg Main Street, Warrensburg R-VI School District, Convention and Tourism Advisory Board in sponsoring Tailgate with the City from 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. near the civic center complex at 102 S. Holden. A variety of family-oriented events are planned.

The annual Homecoming football game starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Audrey J. Walton Stadium as the UCM Mules take on the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos. Halftime activities include the introduction of the 2014 Distinguished Alumni, the crowning of the 2014 Homecoming royalty and performances by the Marching Mules and Alumni Band.
