Yousef, Pint Named Academic Advisors of the Year

WARRENSBURG, MO (May 5, 2016) – Mahmoud Yousef, professor of computer science, and Jennifer Pint, professional academic advisor in the School of Business Administration, recently were recognized as 2016 Academic Advisors of the Year at the University of Central Missouri. Deborah Curtis, provost and chief learning officer at UCM, presented the award during a reception April 21.

Pint has been an academic advisor for 21 years, including 17 years at UCM. She has worked in higher education for 28 years in residential life, admissions and academic advising. She received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree in journalism and public relations from Iowa State University.

Yousef joined the UCM faculty in 2001. He serves a faculty advisor for graduate students seeking a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. He has been advising graduate students for six years and advised undergraduate students for 15 years. He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Yarmouk University in Jordan. He received a master’s degree in pure mathematics from Kent State University, and a master’s degree in applied mathematics and Ph.D. in computational analysis and modeling from Louisiana Tech University.

The award is presented annually to both a faculty and a professional academic advisor, along with an award of either $500 cash or professional development. The recipients of this award will also be nominated for state and national advising association awards.
