WARRENSBURG, MO (May 23, 2013) – More than 2,000 middle school and high school students from the United States and five continents will converge on the University of Central Missouri beginning this weekend for the 41st annual International Student Convention (ISC) of Accelerated Christian Education (ACE).
ACE’s International Student Convention begins Saturday, May 25, with opening ceremonies planned for
6 p.m. Sunday May 26, in the Multipurpose Building. Three days of events will begin Monday, May 27 in various campus buildings and athletic facilities, and the convention ends Friday, May 31 with an awards rally at the Multipurpose Building.
Each year ACE, a premier starter of Christian schools, has a constituency of 145 countries; it hosts 19 Regional Student Conventions across the U.S. and 39 National Conventions around the globe.
The convention features more than 140 areas of competition designed to help students identify their talents. Students compete in areas such as academics, athletics, music, platform, and art. The Regional Conventions lead up to the premier event, the International Student Convention, where students and staff hope to fulfill the ISC motto, “Where else can one week last a lifetime?”
The theme for this year’s convention will be “Stay the Course,” based on the Biblical verse, II Timothy 4:7. The highlight of the convention is evening rallies that are open to the public.
ACE, which is based in Nashville, Tenn., publishes a K–12 Christian curriculum that is used by schools around the world. They rotate the location of the International Convention each year. This is the fourth time UCM has hosted this event. Recent hosts have included James Madison University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Northern Arizona University, and Western Kentucky University. This is the second time UCM has hosted the convention.
