WARRENSBURG, MO (Aug. 31, 2011) – The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and the Department of Music at the University of Central Missouri will host a benefit for the Eleanor Shockey Scholarship Fund as they present the Alumni Chorus Concert and Big Band Dance Saturday, Sept. 17.
Russ Coleman, UCM professor emeritus of music, will continue the tradition of leading a group of talented musicians as they provide Big Band era selections for dancing. Coleman will be joined by Conan Castle, professor emeritus of music, and alumni director Noel Fulkerson, who will direct the Alumni Chorus in the presentation of five selections, in addition to the performance of “Consecrate the Time and Place” by two UCM choirs. As a special treat, the internationally acclaimed KC Prime barbershop quartet also will perform.
The public is invited to attend the event, which begins with a reception at 5 p.m. in the Elliott Union atrium. After guests have been seated for dinner in the Elliott Union ballroom at 6 p.m., the choral groups will perform. KC Prime will perform after dinner, followed by the Big Band Dance.
Tickets for the event are available for $50 per person, or table sponsorships also are available for $400. Tickets may be reserved by contacting the Office of Alumni Relations at 660-543-8000 by Sept. 9.
