WARRENSBURG, MO (May 25, 2012) – Central Missouri Repertory celebrates its 31st annual summer season of theatre with a touring children’s show.
"Hula Heart" by Velina Hasu Houston is the story of a young boy from Hawaii who moves to California and is faced with the dilemma of maintaining his native roots or embracing a new and different culture.
"Hula Heart" will be on tour in June, presenting free public performances June 7 in Warrensburg at Grover Park; June 8 in Blue Springs at Blue Springs Park, June 12 in Richmond at the Ferris Theatre, June 14 in Carrollton at Carrollton Elementary School, June 15 at the Whiteman Air Force Base Youth Center, and June 18 in Lone Jack at Lone Jack Elementary School. The performances begin at 10 a.m., and all are free of charge.
The show is directed by current company manager Julie Rae Mollenkamp, professor of theatre. The cast includes Justin Barron, Adam Tucker, Angie Benson, and Miranda Powers. Other members of the Central Missouri Repertory company are Kevin McCarty, stage manager and sound designer; Jacob Randall, public relations and tour manager; Sarah Widgeon, costume and makeup designer; Sayali Indulkar, costume shop manager; Joel Williams, scenic designer and technical director; and Calin Driver, scene shop manager.
