The All Night Strut, originally conceived, directed, and choreographed by Fran Charnas, is a celebration of the classic musical standards of the 1930’s and 1940’s, including the popular sounds of legendary songwriters such as Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Cab Calloway and the Gershwins. The audience will be invited onstage to enjoy an evening of drinks, dancing and nonstop fun.
The touring children’s show, Thumbelina: the Story of a Brave Little Girl, directed by graduate student Troy Battle, is adapted by Liza Lentin and based upon the story by Hans Christian Andersen. In this play, a mother’s wish for a child is granted when a rosebud opens and “Thumbelina” emerges. Named for her tiny size, the character embarks upon a journey that has her using all of her wits, and a little help from her audience “to overcome her pitfalls.” Incorporating original interpretations of classic songs by the legendary and widely influential band, The Beatles, the show explores themes of friendship, bravery, and self determination.
