UCM Music Faculty Present Annual Showcase

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 8, 2009) – The faculty of UCM’s Department of Music will present the department’s annual Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, in Hart Recital Hall.
The event provides the music faculty with the opportunity to share their expertise and talent with the public in a free performance.
Eric Honour will perform “Flight to Flow Between” on saxophone and using live electronics, followed by a performance of “Quatour” by the Central Trombone Quarter, comprised of John Check, Tremon Kizer Jacob Crawford and David Stagg. Tenor Jacob Sentgeorge will perform “Care Salve” from “Atalanta,” accompanied by Amanda Arrington.
Benjamin Gitter and Mia Hynes will perform “Sonata No. 6 in A Major, Adagio-Allegro,” on cello and piano, followed by a presentation of “Four Pieces for Piano” by Arrington. Alan Wenger and Hynes will present “Sonatine for Trumpet and Piano,” followed by “Log Cabin Blues,” performed by Michael Sekelsky on xylophone with the Central Marimba Quarter, comprised of Stefanie Cardin, Ian McClafin, Marcus Neudigate and Tess Schruder.
Sheri Mattson and Arrington will perform “Sonata for Oboe and Piano,” and Richard Smith will present “Suite de Danzas Criollas” on piano. Soprano Stella Roden will perform “Casta Diva .. Fine al rio” from Cavatina and Cabeletta, accompanied by Arrington, and the Central Brass Quintet, comprised by Wenger, David Aaberg, Gary Moege, Check and Jon Gregory, will conclude the program with “An American in Paris” by George Gershwin.
