Fountain City Brass Band Coming to UCM

Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (Feb. 1, 2008) – UCM's Friends of Music Society brings Kansas City’s Fountain City Brass Band to Hendricks Hall at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 for another exciting performance of the 2007-2008 season.

Traditional Brass with a Varied Repertoire

A professional arts ensemble founded in Kansas City, MO, in 2002, the Fountain City Brass Band is molded in the tradition of the traditional British brass band. Its repertoire consists of music from Broadway to military marches and the big band era to highly technical, flashy and fun test pieces of brass band literature.

FCBB is 2007 champion of the North American Brass Band Association Competition and was the first American group invited to participate in the All England Masters International Brass Band Championships, staged in May 2007 at Cambridge, England. The group wrapped up a successful year by also capturing the championship title at the U.S. Open Brass Band Championships.

Friends of Music Continue 2007-2008 Season

The 2007-2008 Friends of Music season continues with a performance by UCM alumnus Daryl Duff, a member of the Navy Sea Chanters, as he returns to his alma mater Sunday, March 2 in “Daryl Duff: The American Voice” in Hart Recital Hall.

The annual Gala Scholarship Concert is the finale of the concert season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4 in Hendricks Hall. The event continues the long tradition of the gala performances by UCM music faculty and students that have benefited the department’s scholarship fund. More than 160 students from the Department of Music will share their talent and dedication.
