Annual 'Get the Red Out' Celebration Kicks Off New Year

WARRENSBURG, MO (July 31, 2009) – UCM will host the annual “Get the Red Out” street fair Thursday, Aug. 27, bringing the UCM and Warrensburg communities together in a celebration of the beginning of the new academic year. Activities are being planned for 4-6:30 p.m. on Holden Street, between South and Clark streets.
Mules Home Season Opener
The event also kicks off the beginning of a new athletic season as the Fighting Mules battle Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, during the first home football game of the fall. The game begins at 7 p.m. at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.
Live Music Featured
According to Russel Bloom, director of publishing and promotions at UCM, the fair will feature live musical entertainment by The Paperclips, sponsored by public radio station KTBG 90.9 The Bridge; a variety of inflatable games; and hoop-shooting contests with the Mules and Jennies basketball teams. Student non-profit organizations will sell food and beverages, and members of the UCM retailers group will display and sell merchandise and apparel with UCM marks.
Booth Reservations Being Accepted
Warrensburg area businesses and organizations are also invited to participate in the event. Any business or organization that is interested in sponsoring a booth can reserve their space at “Get the Red Out” by completing a vendor registration form. It is available online through the Greater Area Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center. The form must be returned to the Chamber office at 100 S. Holden St. by Friday, Aug. 21.
