Hartzler to Host Missouri Business Conference at UCM

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 25, 2014)- Fourth District Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler will serve as honorary host for the 2014 Missouri Business Conference Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the University of Central Missouri. The conference takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in UCM’s Elliott Student Union.

Registration and networking will begin at 8 a.m. in Elliott Student Union 234, followed by opening remarks by Hartzler at 9 a.m. in Elliott Union 240. Hartzler also will offer remarks at 12:15 p.m. prior to the networking luncheon

Panel discussions are planned for 9:30 and 11 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. "Growth Strategy and Mentorship" will be discussed by panelists Brad Munson, owner and operator of Chic-fil-A in Lee's Summit; Christal E. Watson, president and chief executive officer of the Kansas City Black Chamber of Commerce; and John Vandewelle, chief executive officer of Lumen Touch LLC. Panelists for the 11 a.m. panel, "Launch Strategy and Innovation," will be Mark Brigman, chief executive officer of FIDELIS Growth Partners; Weston Brigman, lead investor in BetaBlox; Kristen Roberts, president of County Line Auto Parts; and Jon Whitehead, attorney with Jonathan R. Whitehead LLC, Lee's Summit.

Following lunch and networking opportunities, Travis Wright, chief marketing technologist for CCP Global, will speak on the development of social media strategies and provide techniques for successfully implementing and measuring the return on investment in social media. Demonstration stations will be available, where participants can gain hands-on experience on computers and obtain assistance with social media. A professional photographer will be available to take photos for websites, business cards and other media.

The public is invited to attend. Attendees should pre-register online by Oct. 6. The UCM Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies is co-sponsoring the conference in cooperation with the U.S. Small Business Administration, Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Centers, UCM DECA, and Enactus.
