Contact Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (April 24, 2012) - KMOS-TV, the University of Central Missouri’s public television station, presents an introduction to the Missouri National Guard, engaged in its dual mission of service to the state and the country. The program will air on three dates at 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, and 10:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24.

Produced by the Missouri National Guard and hosted by Capt. Mike Roberts, this special program profiles some of the men and women who volunteer to be called at a moment’s notice to assist citizens in time of disaster and to serve overseas in time of war. The program ends with a memorial to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The program follows “citizen soldiers” as they provide relief after the tornado struck Joplin and floods ravaged the northwest and southeast portions of Missouri. Another story features airmen stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base. Chief Warrant Officers James Nix and Allen Crist of the 135th Aviation Battalion tell of their heroic roles in an engagement of al-Qaida in Iraq, for which they were each awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

You will meet Chief Master Sgt. Laura Clark, state command chief master sergeant for the Missouri National Guard of the 131st Bomb Wing, Missouri Air National Guard, at Lambert Field and Whiteman AFB. A resident of O’Fallon, Mo., Clark is the Missouri National Guard's first female state command chief.

KMOS-TV broadcasts on digital channels 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3, providing PBS programming to 38 Missouri counties from offices and studios in the Patton Broadcast Center on the UCM campus. Learn more about KMOS-TV’s programming and outreach at
