WARRENSBURG, MO (July 11, 2016) – University of Central Missouri President Chuck Ambrose and Mrs. Kris Ambrose will host the President’s Lawn Concert Monday, July 25.

The annual event will take place on the university quadrangle in front of the UCM Administration Building. UCM administrators will begin serving ice cream and cookies at 7 p.m., and the Warrensburg Community Band, under the direction of Russell Coleman, will perform at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.

Free parking is available in university parking lots at South and Maguire streets and South and Holden streets. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved in indoors to Hendricks Hall in the Administration Building. Seating will be provided.

This year’s concert will open with the national anthem, followed by the band’s rendition of Pineapple Roll by Arthur Sullivan. Jeff Imboden will be the featured soloist as the band performs They Can’t Take That Away From Me by George and Ira Gershwin, and guest conductor David Robinson will lead the band in the performance of Spanish Dance by Dmitiri Shostakovich.

The band will perform Andante et Allegro by Joseph Ropartz with featured soloist Neal Seipp on trumpet. Guest conductor Pat Setser will then lead the band in the performance of Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughn Williams, followed by the performance of the Irish ballad I Dreamt I Dwelt In Marble Halls  by Michael William Balfe.

Following the performance of the march The Trombone King by Karl King, Imboden will again joined the band as vocalist for Embraceable You by the Gershwins. The band’s traditional rousing performance of Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa will close the program.

Marion Woods of KOKO radio will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.

The Warrensburg Community Band was founded in 1985 to provide musicians with an opportunity to perform for pleasure while rendering a service to the community. Membership is open to individuals above high-school age and includes those from a wide variety of occupations and many neighboring communities.

Financial support is provided by advertisers and private donors. The band traditionally plays five concerts per summer season, including the annual fundraising concert.
