University of Central Missouri Digital Media Production Student Receives National Recognition for Work at KMOS PBS

KMOS-TV, the PBS station licensed to the University of Central Missouri, recently received four Telly Awards honoring excellence in local television programming. One of these awards was presented to KMOS student producer Leilani Craig who competed against established producers in professional categories with her production of “K-Pop Rising: Kansas City Arirang Festival 2022.”

KMOS 'Making' Series Honored by Missouri Broadcasters Association

KMOS-TV was recognized by the Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) during an awards ceremony at its annual convention at the Lake of the Ozarks on June 3. The University of Central Missouri's public broadcasting station received a first place award in the category “Special Program” for a story on the Missouri Meerschaum Company, part of the second season of its original series “Making.”

O'Keefe Joins Public TV Programmers Association Board of Directors

Michael O’Keefe, programming/communications manager for KMOS-TV, has been elected to the nine-member board of directors for the Public Television Programmers Association (PTPA) for a three-year term. The PTPA, established in 1991, provides public television professionals nationwide with opportunities to network with colleagues, to review new content offerings, and to remain current with relevant technology trends.

O'Keefe Earns National Recognition as PTPA Programmer of the Year

Having dedicated 40 years to public television at the University of Central Missouri, KMOS-TV staff member Michael O’Keefe was honored as the Public Television Station Programming Association’s (PTPA) Programmer of the Year. The UCM alumnus who serves as the KMOS program director was recognized in a ceremony Nov. 14 in Naples, Florida.

KMOS PBS and the Runge Conservation Nature Center have partnered to present KMOS PBS Adventure Day beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 23. This free public event, sponsored in part by Hitachi Energy of Jefferson City, will take place at the Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City.

KMOS-TV Presents "Mule Tracks: UCM After 150 Years," New Documentary Airs Homecoming Week

In celebration of the 1871 founding of the University of Central Missouri, originally known as State Normal School No. 2, KMOS-TV has produced an in-depth history drawing on official archives, historian interviews, and recollections of current and former university leaders. Narrated by Marion "Woody" Woods (1450 KOKO/98.5 The Bar,) “Mule Tracks: UCM After 150 Years” details significant events in the evolution of the university’s academic structure and the growth of the campus. This program will premiere on KMOS-HD channel 6.1 at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19.
