WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 30, 2009) – UCM ’s Performing Arts Series presents acclaimed pianist John Davis in “John Davis Plays Blind Boone” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in UCM’s Hendricks Hall.
Blind Boone and the Music of the American South
Davis will offer imaginative presentations of the life and music of Warrensburg native John William “Blind” Boone through a program of music that has its origins in the African American music of the Deep South.
Born in Missouri in 1864, Boone was educated at the St. Louis School for the Blind and later performed nationwide.
Smithsonian Exhibit Comes to Warrensburg
Davis’ performance opens the Smithsonian exhibit “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music,” which opens Oct. 3 and runs though Nov. 6 at the Johnson County Historical Society Museum in Warrensburg.
