School of Technology Hosts Quality Management Conference

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 11, 2012) –  The University of Central Missouri student chapter of the American Society for Quality will host the fourth annual Quality Management Conference from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in Elliott Union 238.

Sponsored by the UCM School of Technology and the ASQ Section 1301 of Kansas City, the conference theme is “Cost Saving, Quality and Six Sigma Implementation.” The conference will include case study presentations, expert panel discussions, student presentations and a career workshop. Facility tours also will be available in the areas of automations, automotive and the electronic networking lab.

Steven Bowens, director of product and process quality, and Heather McCain, quality manager, consumer product, from Garmin International, will present the case study on quality management tools, and an information session will be available on quality management, lean six sigma and certifications.

Panel discussions will address the topics of costs savings and quality management and careers in quality and lean six sigma certification. Panelists will include representatives from Teva Pharmaceuticals, MCC Institute for Workforce Innovation, Allient Techsystems, CSL Plasma, Community Blood Center, Catelent, Haldex and Blount.

Lunch will be provided in Elliott Union 236, and will feature two, 15-minute student presentations and networking opportunities. The public is invited to attend, and professionals and students in the field of quality management are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to interact with representatives of participating groups.
