Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (Nov. 4, 2015) – Dr. William A. Reed, M.D., founder of the William A. and Mary J. Reed Cardiovascular Surgery Center and chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Services at the University of Kansas Hospital, will present a reading and talk for his recently published book, The Pulse of Hope, A Surgeon’s Memoirs from Poverty to Prosperity at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in Nahm Auditorium at University of Central Missouri.

Reed, a two-time Lifetime Legacy Award Recipient, is a pioneer in heart transplantation, nationally renowned horseman, poet, philosopher, and philanthropist with endowed charitable causes and scholarships at universities, churches and medical institutions. He led the rebuilding of the cardiovascular program at the University of Kansas Medical Center with Dr. Steve Owens.

Reed's book follows his journey from an impoverished childhood to a remarkable life of service to others. What he has to say about ethics, hard work, passion, and purpose makes the piece a required reading for a new millennium.

Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing.

This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the College of Health, Science, and Technology and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at UCM.
