WARRENSBURG, MO (June 17, 2011) – Warrensburg resident David Rogers made history as he sworn in the 72nd governor of the American Legion Missouri Boys State Thursday evening, June 16, in the University of Central Missouri's Hendricks Hall.
Results of the election were announced Thursday afternoon in the UCM Multipurpose Building by Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon made it official during the official ceremony Thursday evening as he administered the oath of office to Rogers, who is the first Warrensburg resident to be elected to the office in the 72-year history of the program.
Rogers is the son of Jack and Christine Rogers of Warrensburg. Jack Rogers is the chair of UCM's Department of Communication and a professor of communication, and David is the first son of a UCM faculty member to be elected to the highest Missouri Boys State office.
Rogers will be a senior at Warrensburg High School, where he is a member of the speech and debate squad and a member of Tigers varsity soccer team.
