WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 20, 2013) – Submissions are now being accepted for the 2014 Show Me Justice Film Festival at the University of Central Missouri planned for April 10-12, 2014.
This is the fourth year for the festival, which will be held in conjunction with Social Justice Week and the Foreign Language Film Festival on the UCM campus. The Show Me Justice Film Festival is an international festival that brings films from around the world to the Midwest to showcase the theme of social justice.
Entries are being accepted in the following categories:
Entries should be submitted online at ucmo.edu/filmfest. Early deadline is Oct. 15, with a regular deadline of Nov. 15 and late deadline of Dec.10. Early entry fees are $10 for short films, $20 for short feature films, and $30 for feature films.
“We are excited to move the festival into the spring from its traditional fall schedule to better match the university calendar,” said Mark von Schlemmer, director of the festival and assistant professor of communication. “It allows us to better engage students in the process of producing the festival, and it also allows us to coordinate with Social Justice Week and the Foreign Language Film Festival.”
“I'm excited and honored to help produce the Film Festival now in its fourth year, continuing its fine tradition of showcasing social justice films, underrepresented narratives, and the work of independent film artists,” said Ryan Cannon, associate festival director and assistant professor of communication.
The festival is coordinated by the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences in cooperation with the Department of Communication and Sociology. The films selected for the festival compete for prizes based upon artistic competence, creativity, and the exploration of the festival theme as judged by the Show Me Justice Festival jury.
