Department of Theatre and Dance Presesents Children's Play

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 10, 2015) - The Department of Theatre and Dance will present the children play Gustav: The Goose Who Wouldn’t Fly by Matt Fotis at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. All performances are in UCM's Highlander Theatre.

As a part of the Meridith Harmon Sauer Guest Artist Series, the playwright, Matt Fotis, will present a playwriting workshop at 3 p.m. Friday Sept. 3 p.m., in Highlander Theatre. He also will participate in a talk-back session with the cast after the opening night performance on Sept.11. Fotis is assistant professor and co-chair of the Department of Theatre at Albright College, where he teaches improvisation, acting, and writing for performance,

Tickets are available from the theatre box office in Wood 128 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., by calling 660-543-8811, or online through the UCM Performing Arts Sereis box office as ucmpas.com. Children under the age of 5 years will not be admitted.

Under the direction of John Wilson, professor of theatre and chair of the Department of Theatre, the production follows Gustav the Goose as he is prepping for his first winter migration. Even though he would never admit it, he is a bit terrified of flying. To make matters worse, his father is trying to win the record of the 14th straight Great Goose Migration Race to become the greatest flying goose in history, and he needs every goose in his gaggle to cross the finish line – including his son.

Cast members include UCM students Zach Craft as Gustav, Hannah Michaelree as Maple Cheeks, Austin Hook as Mounty the Moose, Chris Scott as Arnold Palmer, Kacy Barta as Goose/Hunter/Gopher 1, Alyssa Haverly as Goose/Hunter/Gopher 2, and Emily Bridges as Ana/Hunter/Gopher 3.
