Department of Theatre and Dance Presents "Spring Awakening"

WARRENSBURG, MO (April 20, 2015 ) – The University of Central Missouri Department of Theatre and Dance presents the rock musical Spring Awakening April 22-26 in the James L. Highlander Theatre. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. April 22-25 and 2 p.m.Sunday, April 26.

Spring Awakening

Julie Rae Mollenkamp, Meridith Harmon Sauer Distinguished Endowed Professor of Theatre, is director for the production. Meridith Harmon Sauer Guest Artists for Spring Awakening are Angie Benson, rehearsal musical conductor, and James McQuillen, performance musical conductor.

Spring Awakening is a fresh, modern, and exciting rock musical that boldly navigates youth and the thrilling, confusing time of adolescent self-discovery and the shared experience of coming of age. Winner of eight Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards and a Grammy for Outstanding Musical in 2007, Spring Awakening is based on the controversial 1891 German play of the same name which was banned due to its frank portrayal of human sexuality.

Members of the cast include Kelsey Reinsfelder as Wendla, Nellie Maple as Martha, Jessica Arnold as Thea, Lindy Elliot as Anna, Taylor Jennings as Ilse, Daniel Parman as Melchior, Arthur Clifford as Moritz, Michael Hutton as Hanschen, Omari Collins as Ernst, Connor Bosworth as Georg, Isamo Manuel as Otto, Brooke Myers as Adult Woman, and Zac Craft as Adult Male.
