Under the direction of John Wilson, professor of theatre, "The Tempest" will be staged on a replica of the Globe Theatre stage. Usurped by his brother and forced to flee Milan by boat, Prospero and his daughter Miranda have been castaways on a remote island for more than a decade. Miranda has only seen two men in her entire life: her father and Caliban, a deformed and hideous creature under Prospero’s control. But Fate soon brings Prince Ferdinand and many of Prospero’s enemies towards the island, and Prospero uses magic to shipwreck the boat with a violent tempest. Watch Miranda experience what it’s like to fall in love, and muse as Prospero rights the wrongs of the past in one of Shakespeare’s most enduring comedies.

Richard Herman, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance and the Meridith Harmon Sauer Distinguished Professor of Theatre, will be featured in the lead role as Prospero.
