Department of Theatre and Dance to Present Under Milk Wood

WARRENSBURG, MO (Feb. 20, 2015) - The University of Central Missouri Department of Theatre and Dance will present its mainstage performance of Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas March 4-8 in the James L. Highlander Theatre.

John Wilson, professor of theatre is director for the production. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. March 4-7 with a 2 p.m. matinee planned for Sunday, March 8.

Tickets are available at the theatre box office in Wood 128 for season ticket holders on Feb. 23 and for the general public on Feb. 25. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, or tickets may be reserved by calling the box office at 660-543-8811 or online. Tickets prices are $12 for the general public, $10 for UCM faculty, staff, senior citizens and military, and $7 for students. Children under the age of 5 years will not be admitted.

Initially a 1954 Welsh radio drama, Under Milk Wood was later adapted into both a stage play and film. Driven by the beautiful poetry of Dylan Thomas, Under Milk Wood introduces an omniscient narrator who invites the audience to listen to the dreams and innermost thoughts of the often outrageious and insightful inhabitants of a fictional small Welsh fishing village.

UCM Students featured in the production are Nathaniel J. Weber as the First Voice, with Christopher Scott, Taylor Hudson, David Docktor, Bryson Kenworthy, Jennifer E. Scott, Hannah Michaelree, Kaelyn Whitt, Emmy Panzica, and Jessica Baxter playing a variety of eclectic characters living in the fictional town of Llarregub.
