Big Data Guest Speaker Series Launches Oct. 19 with Presentation by Amitech Solutions VP

WARRENSBURG, MO – Launching a new “big data and analytics” guest speaker series, the University of Central Missouri’s Division of Business Analytics in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies is offering the free presentation, “The Analytics Revolution and What You Need to Know.”  The program features guest speaker Paul Boal, vice president of Amitech Solutions, St. Louis, and begins at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct, 19 in Ward Edwards 2020.

Boal is one of two speakers who are being invited to campus this fall as part of the series, made possible by a grant awarded to Dr. Prasad Rudramuniyaiah, Ph.D., through the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at UCM. This program is open to all members of the campus community and any other interested individuals. Pizza, snacks and soda will be provided.

The presentation will consider several topics related to data, including advances in business theory, analytics, computer information systems, data management, technology, computer science and human expectations. Boal will provide insights with regard to how students can equip themselves in terms of technical skills and soft skills that will help them succeed in their professional careers.

Boal’s vast professional experiences include work in data warehousing, business intelligence and analytics areas. Before joining Ameritech Solutions, he served as director of Data Engineering and Analytics at Mercy Hospital and Health Care System.

In addition to working as an information technology professional, Boal is past president and a moving force behind The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), St. Louis Chapter. He has served on the Advisory Board of the Information Systems Department at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and teaches an advanced-level course in Health Data Science at St. Louis University in St. Louis.
