(WARRENSBURG) - One of the best ways for students to protect themselves and their families from the spread of COVID-19 is by getting vaccinated. Johnson County Community Health Services (JCCHS), in collaboration with the UCM Health Center and School of Nursing, wants to help make that possible by offering a free vaccination clinic specifically for University of Central Missouri students and their dependents who are age 16 or older from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 12 at the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg. All UCM students are eligible for the vaccine, regardless of where they may live or whether or not they are taking in-person or online courses.

Pre-registration is required, and all appointments must be made by noon Friday April 9. To register for an appointment time, visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4cadab29a7f9c61-ucmstudent, or click the button below.

JCCHS will be using the Pfizer vaccine for this clinic. Students will be invited back to the Multipurpose Building at the same appointment time on May 3 to receive the second vaccine. JCCHS will make accommodations for students whose appointments conflict with final exam schedules.

Individuals participating in the clinic should enter the Multipurpose Building at 500 S. Washington Street on the west side, and arrive no earlier than five minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time. Questions related to the vaccine or April 12 clinic can be directed to Johnson County Community Health Services at 660-747-6121 ext. 257.

A survey recently shared with UCM students indicated at least 800 students are interested in getting vaccinated. Students who want to receive the vaccine are encouraged to schedule their appointment as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend the COVID-19 vaccination clinic on April 12, you can learn about other vaccine opportunities by visiting the JCCHS or WMMC  websites, as well as compasshealthnetwork.org or covidvaccine.mo.gov.

As of April 9, all Missourians are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Students are encouraged to continue to practice social distancing protocols, wear face coverings/masks and practice thorough hand washing even after being vaccinated, as measures to help protect yourself and others from the spread of the virus.
