Veenstra to Visit UCM as Meridith Harmon Sauer Guest Artist in Theatre

WARRENSBURG, MO (Jan. 5, 2015) - Andrew Veenstra, professional New York and Los Angeles actor, will visit the University of Central Missouri as a Meridith Harmon Sauer Guest Artist for the Department of Theatre and Dance January 15-17.

Veenstra will present an open talk-back session about his career as an actor and playing the leading role in the Broadway tour of War Horse at 7 p.m. Thursday Jan. 15, in the Black Box Theatre in Nickerson Hall. The event is open to the public.

He also will present an acting workshop for theatre and dance students at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, in the James L. Highlander Theatre. In addition, he will be working with student actors on their Irene Ryan Acting Audition scenes which they will present at the Kennedy Center American College Region V Theatre Festival in Minneapolis, Minn., Jan. 19-20.

Currently living in Los Angeles, Veenstra is a New York native who has been performing professionally nearly all his life. He has worked extensively on stage and screen in New York City and Los Angeles and at many of the most prestigious and notable theaters across America.

Veenstra is best known for playing the lead role in the Best Play TONY Award-winning play War Horse. He has a broad and impressive background in Shakespeare, musical theatre, and music and voice technique. He has studied and performed with some of the most notable and diverse directors and performance companies across the country.

Veenstra’s visit is made possible through the Meridith Harmon Sauer Guest Artist Series, which was established by Lynn and Jackie Harmon in honor of their daughter through the UCM Foundation in order to bring outstanding national and regional guest artists to UCM.
