Public Relations Student Society of America

PRSSA opens the doors to all kinds of great opportunities. Its members make great friends, learn from pros about the field of public relations and what it has to offer, network with like-minded individuals, and develop skills they take with them to the job market. Engaged PRSSA membership is positively correlated with employment success.

PRSSA maintains an active schedule. Its members visit award-winning agencies, corporate PR office and non-profit headquarters; host CEO-, VP- and entry-level speakers; engage in service and community projects; and learn from the best when they attend the #PRSSAKCSummit. They can also win PRSSA scholarships, compete in the national Bateman Competition, become a national officer, attend the national conference, and participate in many regional events. Innovative Public Relations

UCM's student-led public relations firm is managed and operated by PR students. As a small agency, Innovative PR serves multiple clients each semester. Since its 2010 launch, IPR has provided more than 14,000 hours of service to the UCM Community.

IPR specialists gain experience in:

  • Agency and client relations
  • Non-profit communication
  • Promotions
  • Social media campaigns
  • Event communication and marketing
  • Media relations
  • Content curation and analytics

Students who apply and are accepted for IPR receive up to three credit hours and serve as PR specialists. They work closely together to coordinate tasks, meet deadlines, think strategically, and represent IPR in a professional and ethical manner. Examples of IPR's work include:
