Petition to Withdraw From a Course After the Published Drop Date

Students who wish to drop a class after the published drop date (through 2/3 of the class) must file a petition. Late withdrawals are only approved for documented, extenuating circumstances (e.g., hospitalization, death in the family) that prevented the student from completing the course(s).

Complete Withdrawal (all courses)

Students petitioning to withdraw late from all courses should contact the Office of Student Experience and Engagement (ADM 214, 660-543-4114). If a late withdrawal petition is approved, a grade of LW will be assigned and the instructor will be informed of the approval. A grade of LW will not impact the grade point average, but will be reflected on the transcript.

Partial Withdrawal (one or more courses)

Students petitioning to drop one or more classes (but not an entire semester of classes), should complete the petition in its entirety and sign where indicated. Attach necessary documentation from a professional supporting the extenuating circumstances. Return completed petition and supporting documentation to the Registrar’s Office: Ward Edwards Building, Room 1000. Students may also fax the form and documentation to 660-543-8400 or email them to registrar@ucmo.edu. Students will be notified of the decision through campus email within 10 business days. If a late drop petition is approved, a grade of LD will be assigned and the instructor will be informed of the approval. A grade of LD will not impact the grade point average, but will be reflected on the transcript.
