State Farm® Marketing & Sales Competition

A Great Partnership!

State Farm and the University of Central Missouri continue their outstanding partnership to sponsor the annual State Farm Marketing and Sales Competition. The competition is entering its 13th year in 2023, and showcases students' innovative marketing ideas and their individual sales skills. Each fall, students and faculty from universities across the US, along with representatives from State Farm, come to the UCM campus and Warrensburg community for the competition. The event offers an environment that delivers a unique educational experience along with networking opportunities for the next generation of marketing and sales professionals. Thanks to the continued support from both State Farm executives and staff and the UCM administration, the marketing and sales competition continues to be a huge success!

Two students* and one faculty coach are selected from each participating university to represent their school. Each university selects a faculty coach who will assist in the preparation of the students for this competition. Additionally, a State Farm coordinator is assigned to each university team. The faculty coach and coordinator are responsible for helping students prepare for the competition and will attend the competition in Warrensburg, MO with the students. Training materials are provided to students to assist their preparation.

The competition is structured around two major components.

Marketing Presentation - Students prepare a 25 minute team presentation on a provided topic, offering innovative ideas and solutions to challenges faced by State Farm and the industry in today's marketplace.

State Farm Agent Role Play - Students compete individually in a 25 minute role play
scenario. Customers (State Farm associates) are identified and trained as part of the
competition. The State Farm agent role play is designed to reflect actual scenarios that a
State Farm agent would experience when interacting with a potential customer. The role
play challenges students to identify customer needs, offer options that fit customer needs,
and personalize the customer experience.

receive a copy of their performance at the end of the competition.
* A student is only allowed to compete in the State Farm Marketing & Sales Competition
once.
