The primary purpose of ATMAE accreditation is to encourage and recognize the attainment of certain professional goals and standards for Industrial Technology.
American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences - Fashion: Textiles & Clothing in Business Program
AAFCS is the only professional association that connects family and consumer sciences (FCS) students and professionals from both multiple practice settings and content areas. Our members are educators, administrators and managers, human service and business professionals, researchers, community volunteers, and consultants. They provide research-based knowledge about the topics of everyday life, including human development, personal and family finance, housing and interior design, food science, nutrition and wellness, textiles and apparel, and consumer issues.
American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) Program Accreditation - Construction Management Program
The American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) is a 501 (c)(3) private non-profit corporation. The mission of ACCE is to be a leading globaladvocate of quality construction education programs; and to promote, support, and accredit quality constructioneducation programs. Theprimary goal is promotion and continued improvement of post secondary construction education; specifically, ACCE accredits construction education programs in colleges and universities that request its evaluation and meet its standards and criteria.
In addition, our Construction Management program has dual accreditation with ATMAE. UCM's Construction Management program has international recognition by the Chartered Institute of Building in the United Kingdom.
National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) - Certification for the Automotive Technology Management Program
Central Missouri's automotive program uses the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation's (NATEF) End of Program Evaluation exams to assess all students in their senior year. The results from this series of exams are used to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of UCM's automotive program. This evaluation is designed to measure each student’s knowledge of course content and learning outcomes within an automobile technician training program. Comprised of a combination of theory and application-based questions, the test is divided into the eight automobile areas and was developed using the NATEF task list. Schools choose which and how many sections in which to test the students.
American Institute of Constructors (AIC) - Certification for the Construction Management Program
After graduation, construction management professionals will be faced with increased responsibilities and obligations as they manage construction projects. In an effort to recognize the many skills required by the construction professional today, each construction management senior is required to register for and take the Associate Constructor (AC) certification exam administered by the American Institute of Constructors (AIC).
Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) - Certification for the Technology Program
Professional certification is available to senior students and graduates of the Technology program through the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering. Both organizations offer certification through examinations that are appropriate for the program’s graduates. SME provides an examination that leads to certifications as a Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT). ATMAE offers an examination that qualifies students for credentials as a Certified Technology Manager (CTM). Both of these professional societies have continuing education requirements that must be met in order to maintain active certification status. Feedback from certification examination results is one important source of input for the departmental faculty to use in the assessment of program outcomes.
