Cassie Kay Hoppas



Cassie Kay Hoppas has held a variety of positions in multiple custome shops, including costume designer, cutter/draper, shop manager, and hair and makeup designer to name a few.  She has worked on a wide range of works including plays, musicals, dance, and opera.  A particular area of interest for Cassie is historical costuming and period construction and she has given several lectures and demonstrations, particularly for period costumes used the operas Abduction At the Seraglio, Jenufa, La Fancuilla del West, Manon, Falstaff, and Orphee et Eurydice performed at Des Moines Metro Opera.  Some of Cassie's favorite costume areas are corsets and underpinnings, costume stock organization, and draping.  Besides working in both academic and professional theatres Cassie is also a current member of USIT and has previously been a member of both SETC and KCACTF Region V.  In her free time she continues to develop skills in digital rendering and hopes to continue to study and document the role of clothing and fashion in lives of various key women throughout history.  Cassie holds her MFA in Costume Design and Production from the University of Alabama and a BFA in Theatre from Emporia State University.
