UCM Student Support Services

 

“Serving Students Equitably and Holistically, Building Strong Relationships to Achieve Academic Success!”

You chose the University of Central Missouri to give yourself more opportunities in life. But if you’re the first in your family to go to college, you likely have a lot of questions, concerns and even doubts. UCM's Student Support Services has been helping undergraduate students like you graduate. If you’re a first-generation student, come from a low-income background, or are challenged by a disability, this program is designed to help you earn your degree at UCM.

 

Services Provided

Harding Center

The Harding Student Support Services Center

  • YOUR place to study on campus!
  • Open Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Computers available with free printing!
  • Success Coach (certified peer educators) available to assist with general academic questions, understanding assignment directions, and other basic study skills.
  • Group Collaborative Study Zone with large electronic whiteboard capability.
  • Located within the Success Advising Center, giving you accessibility to your Success Advisor!

Success Advising

  • Provide academic success coaching, and access to free tutoring, which may include developmental and/or supplemental instruction in reading, writing, study skills, mathematics, science, and other subjects as needed.
  • Provide advice and assistance in postsecondary course selection.
  • Provide assistance to students needing information on the full range of student financial aid programs, benefits and resources for locating public and private scholarships.
  • Provide individualized advising for navigating personal (life), career, and academic situations and/or decisions.
  • Provide information, activities, and instruction designed to acquaint students with their academic and career options, define success (their goals), and guidance on how to accomplish their goals.
  • Provide a peer education & mentoring (Success Coaching) program.

Provide academic success coaching, and access to free tutoring, which may include developmental and/or supplemental instruction in reading, writing, study skills, mathematics, science, and other subjects as needed.

Student Financial Aid

  • Provide assistance to students needing information on the full range of student financial aid programs, benefits and resources for locating public and private scholarships.
  • Provide Education designed to improve the students financial and economic literacy, and assistance in completing financial aid (FAFSA) applications.

Career and Life Design Center

  • Provide assistance in researching, seeking, and applying for internships, jobs, or admission to graduate/professional programs.
  • Provide individualized advising for navigating personal (life), career, and academic situations and/or decisions.

University Housing

Provide assistance in securing temporary housing during breaks for students who are homeless youths, and students who are in foster care or are aging out of the foster care system.
