In commemoration of Thomas Jefferson’s birthday, UCM’s Social Work Program will sponsor a Pursuit of Happiness Day on Wednesday, April 17th, in conjunction with the national Happiness Initiative. Our Declaration of Independence contains the promise of “…unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Thanks to Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin, the debate was won to include the phrase “ the pursuit of happiness” in the Declaration of Independence. Let us know what the unalienable right to the pursuit of happiness means to you, particularly with regard to underserved populations.
