Jennies volleyball finishes 2-2 at D-II Premier Challenge

Caitlin Pankratz in actionJennies volleyball wrapped up play Saturday at the D-II Premier Challenge in Denver, Colo., by splitting their two matches in the Silver Bracket. The Jennies, who had also split their two pool play matches Friday, opened play Saturday with a 3-1 loss to West Florida before bouncing back to sweep Chico State 3-0.

The Jennies, who entered play ranked 20th in the first regular season AVCA-II Poll, are now 5-3 and will open the home portion of their schedule Thursday night when they take on Rockhurst University at the UCM Multipurpose Building starting at 7 p.m.


Jennies soccer scores seven in victory

Angela Dobbie in actionJennies soccer exploded for seven unanswered goals Friday on the way to a 7-2 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State in their first match of the Central Oklahoma Classic in Edmond, Oklahoma. Trailing 2-1 at halftime, the Jennies scored three goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half, including two by Melanie Hall in a span of just 46 seconds.

Mules football blows past Arkansas Tech

Glenn MIlner in actionMules football wrapped up the non-conference portion of their 2008 schedule Thursday night with a 49-13 victory over Arkansas Tech at Walton Stadium-Kennedy Field.

It was the Glenn Milner show for UCM with the senior running back scoring five touchdowns to tie a Mules single game record. Eric Czerniewski threw for three touchdowns and Damond Berry returned the opening kick of the second half 95 yards for a touchdown. The Mules defensive came up with a strong effort that limited Arkansas Tech to only one third down conversion in 11 tries. Mules Recap »

The Mules, ranked 24th in the latest D2Football.com poll, improve to 2-0 and now turn their attention to the rugged MIAA and their first league action next Saturday night (Sept. 13th) in Kirksville, Mo., against the Truman State Bulldogs.


Former Mules pitcher makes major league debut

Josh OutmanFormer Mules pitcher Josh Outman made his major league debut with the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night against the Royals in Kansas City. Outman, who pitched for the Mules in 2005 and finished with a 10-2 record, was called up from the A's Triple-AAA minor league squad Sacramento. The lefthander recorded a strikeout of the first hitter he faced and finished by pitching two innings, allowing two hits and striking out a pair...More Info »

Mules Golf claims first event

golf clubsMules golf opened their 2008 Fall schedule by winning the Missouri Intercollegiate Meet at The Club at Porto Cima - Sunrise Beach, Missouri. The final round of competition scheduled for Wednesday was rained out, so Tuesday's first two rounds will be the final results of the 16-team event. The Mules posted a team score of seven-over-par 583 to finish eight strokes in front of runner-up Drury University. Justin Yoder led UCM by firing a 36-hole mark of four-under-par 140 to tie for the individual lead...Recap »
