Jennies advance to regional final

action from volleyball regional semi-finalThe top-seeded Jennies fought past Pittsburg State on Friday evening to pick up a 3-0 semi-final round victory and advance to Saturday's championship match.

The Jennies, ranked fourth in the latest AVCA D-II Coaches Poll, improve to 34-4 heading into Saturday's regional championship against fifth-ranked West Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m. Jennies Recap »

The Jennies will be making their first appearance in a regional championship since 2006, and will be after their first regional title since 1996, and their seventh NCAA-II regional championship overall.

Up to the first 500 UCM students to attend the NCAA South Central Regional volleyball tournament will get in free. Central Missouri students must show their student I.D. to receive their free ticket, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Jennies matches in the regional will be broadcast on 1450-AM KOKO and www.warrensburgradio.com.

Jennies basketball takes down Javelinas

Dave SliferJennies basketball made it back to back wins to open the 2009-2010 season Friday afternoon with a 76-59 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville at the UCM Multipurpose Building.

The win on the opening day of the Jennies Classic-presented by Comfort Inn and 1450 KOKO/98.5 THE BAR also produced history, with head coach Dave Slifer becoming the winningest coach (297) in MIAA history.

Piontek named "Coach of the Year"

Flip PiontekFlip Piontek has been honored by the MIAA for leading Jennies volleyball to the league title in his first year at the helm of the program, as he was the unanimous selection for the Coach of the Year.

Mules basketball wins opener, 1500th program victory

Bryce Brunz in actionMules basketball picked up the 1500th victory in the program history Tuesday night, posting an 86-51 triumph over Westminster College at the UCM Multipurpose Building.

Sanijay Watts led the way for the Mules in the regular season opener by scoring 21 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Bryce Brunz came off the bench to hit five three-point field goals to finish with 15 points. Mules Recap »

Cross Country sends Sialo to nationals

NCAA logoUCM cross country will have one representative at the NCAA-II Championships this Saturday in Evansville, Indiana. Laban Sialo qualified by third at the NCAA-II South Central Regional in Abilene, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 7th.
