College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences
| "A quality education is an investment that lasts a lifetime." — Gersham Nelson, Dean College of Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences |
Welcome to the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, one of UCM’s largest colleges, and home to ten academic departments, Africana Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and the Center for Religious Studies. Our highly qualified faculty and staff are committed to creating and preserving a small-college environment that enables us to offer a world-class education with large-university opportunities.
Our programs are developed and administered to engage students in ways that help them acquire the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a competitive and dynamic global environment. We are highly committed to helping students develop the ability to: write and speak clearly and effectively; think critically and creatively; work collaboratively at problem solving; and exercise sound ethical judgment. As a consequence, graduates of our programs can be found throughout the US and abroad working with and often providing leadership for a wide array of public and private organizations. A few of the areas in which these graduates find personal and professional satisfaction are: media production, broadcasting, writing, teaching, management, artistic directing, acting, music performance, journalism, and counseling.
