UCM was founded more than 135 years ago to satisfy the need for qualified teachers throughout the state and country. These decades of experience have pushed the College of Education to be one of the best teacher education programs in the state. Graduating with a degree from UCM guarantees that you are skilled and capable to ensure success for all learners.

The teacher education program at UCM is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, and individual programs are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The College of Education also offers multiple graduate programs. The counseling program is accredited by the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Higher Learning Commission. The school administration programs are developed around the professional standards of the Interstate School Leader Licensure Consortium. A master’s degree in educational technology is also offered.

The Clinical Services and Certification office provides guidance and supervision to students who desire to enter the teacher education program, obtain certification as an educator and complete student teaching.
